All About Disney Destiny Cruise Ship: Voyage into the World of Heroes & Villains
The Hercules iconography on the suite's interior caught my eye as I read the news about Disney Destiny cruise ship details and new onboard venues. Finally, the Disney movies that I grew up with were getting the attention they deserved on a Disney Cruise Line ship.

As I dove further into the news about Disney Destiny's venues and onboard experiences — from the live entertainment dining experiences to staterooms, cafes, and more — the excitement grew. There is so much to look forward to on Disney Destiny. Read all about the new ship in DCL's fleet.

An Overview of Disney Destiny Cruise Ship
Heroisism and Villainous Vibes
Disney Destiny is a sister ship to Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. That means the deck plan is the same but the interiors are different. The vessel will have 1,250 passenger cabins and weighs 140,000 gross tons. Captain Minnie Mouse is painted in yellow on the ship's black bow, holding a telescope as she looks out to the high seas. Spider-Man protects the stern of the ship, casting a net of a different kind at sea. But that's just where it starts.

We haven't been this excited about a Disney Cruise Line (DCL) ship theme in a while. The “enchantment” theme on Disney Wish felt expected, like Frozen's characters at a live entertainment dinner, princess greetings around the ship, or the “Enchanté” restaurant. However, the nod to characters from decades ago on Disney Destiny speaks to our 80s and 90s-era raising — an era when Disney was in its golden heyday and renaissance, we could say.
This ship brings us Cruella de Vil. Pirates of the Caribbean. Spider-Man. T'Challa. Haunted Mansion's happy haunts. Hercules. Need we say more? But it gets better and better as Disney Cruise Line slowly but surely reveals more information about the ship.
Disney Destiny Launch Date and Building Progress
The incredibly reputable Meyer Werft shipbuilding company is building the ship in Germany. They also built the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Disney Destiny is scheduled to launch in November 2025. Bookings open September 12, 2024. The ship will sail four and five-night cruises to the Bahamas, Western Caribbean, Castaway Cay, and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in its inaugural season
Marvel SuperHeroes on Disney Destiny
Marvel is a big focus of this ship, bringing the characters to life in ways never before seen in the DCL fleet.
Black Panther Grand Hall
One of the most anticipated discoveries with any new ship is what the atrium or Grand Hall will look like. Disney Destiny's will feature “Black Panther” elements. A T'Challa sculpture will be the focal point. Surrounding it is metalwork inspired by the Wakanda stacked jewelry and banded armor, designs resulting from consultations between Walt Disney Imagineers and Marvel Studios' “Black Panther” design team.
Another focal point of the Grand Hall is always the chandelier. The chandelier on Disney Destiny is inspired by Vibranium — the rare metallic ore from the fictional nation.
Expect shows in the Grand Hall, complete with 360-degree lighting effects and stage performances.

Spiderman on Disney Destiny's Stern
For the first time, a Marvel character will decorate the ship's stern. Spider-Man and his Spider-Bots attempt to decorate the yellow filagree on the back of the ship. The stern of Disney ships is an indicator of the ship's personality, and the superhero Spider-Man answered the call, casting a spidery net.
Saga Two-Deck Theater
The two-deck theater space that provides a venue for family entertainment by day and adults-only entertainment by night is called Saga on Disney Destiny cruise ship. It's in the space where Luna is located on Disney Wish, adjacent to the Grand Hall.
Saga's design takes cues from Wakanda's architecture and will be a dramatic counterpart of the Grand Hall.
Additional Marvel details follow below in the ship's public venues and accommodations.
Themed Venues and Entertainment

Dining, Bar, and Lounge Experiences
The excitement is nearly bursting out of me as I write this because these are some of the best venues Disney Cruise Line has ever announced.
Here's what we have to look forward to on Disney Destiny:
Below is detailed information about each venue.
De Vil's Piano Lounge

If the live-action “Cruella” film from 2021, starring Emma Stone, did anything for the Disney dalmatians, it resurrected them. And we're here for it on Disney Destiny! This themed piano bar incorporates the best from the two films, “101 Dalmatians” and “Cruella.”
The ship will feature De Vil's Piano Lounge. A piano player will play sultry tunes on a spotted white grand piano. Chic cocktails, bubbles, and trendy martinis will be served. We expect there to be an innovative, cool glassware aspect of at least one cocktail. This would be similar to how they offer a drink in a bird-shaped glass at Nightingale's on Disney Wish, and the cat-glass revealed for the bourbon-forward “The Cat Drink” at Scat-Cat Lounge, an Aristocats-themed piano bar on Disney Treasure.
If the renderings indicate the color palette accurately, the Imagineers are sticking to the classic red, white, and black colors of the infamous Disney villain Cruella de Vil. If only there were puppies to play with onboard. (We can dream!)
Puppies aside, one of the venue's coolest features is that one side of the piano bar will be open to the Grand Hall. We're thrilled to hear that the designers of Disney Destiny are taking the venue's prime location into account on the newest Disney cruise ship.
Can't get enough of De Vil's Piano Bar? Neither can we! Check out this video that Disney debuted with the announcement of the new venue. Cruella even exclaims that the spotted piano is the “Most fabulous thing…” she's ever seen. And just like she proclaims she wants the puppies in the animated film, she proclaims, “I…want…that…piano!” in this cute cartoon announcing the piano bar:
The Sanctum Lounge from “Doctor Strange”
In another first for DCL, the Sanctum Lounge is the first Marvel-inspired parlor on any Disney cruise ship. The entertainment parlor will host an array of entertainment and also serve as a lounge offering a magical array of libations and coffees.
You'll see mystical items in the lounge's decor that sorcerers use to protect the world and a circular mirror behind the bar reminiscent of the one from Doctor Strange's New York Sanctum. This will be located in the deck 3 space that is “The Bayou” on Disney Wish.
Cask and Cannon: Pirates of the Caribbean Pub
Cask and Cannon is the ship's pub venue with televisions playing live sporting events. It is a sports bar reimagined with a Pirates theme much like Keg & Compass is a sports bar on Disney Wish with an adventurer's or maritime theme.
This venue is inspired by characters from the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, which is featured at many Disney parks worldwide. Expect an extensive rum menu, Captain Jack Sparrow's favorite spirit, as you sip cocktails amidst pillaged and pilfered treasures.
“Bootlegged brews” will also take center stage on Cask and Cannon's menu.
Haunted Mansion Parlor
Disney Treasure is leading the pack on this “haunted” pub, and we're excited to see it has a place on Disney Destiny as well. 999 Happy Haunts join you for drinks in a drawing room reminiscent of those on cruise liners during cruising's golden age.

The storyline in this Haunted Mansion bar will focus on a sea captain. Haunts will “materialize” to immerse grim grinning guests in the experience as they sip ghostly cocktails. The next chapter of Haunted Mansion lore is complete with a custom musical arrangement inspired by the attraction's original score.
With a dark color palette in its carpets and tufted furniture, a warm yet eerie vibe is created here with both lounge and bar seating. Tassels hang from curtains, a decorative gold frame surrounds the “mirror” behind the bar, and the wallpaper's eyes watch all guests.
If you love collecting Disney drinkware, budget to bring home some haunted homewares and spooky souvenirs from the Haunted Mansion Parlor that will be available in onboard shopping venues.
Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King

If you're singing “I Just Can't Wait to be King” right now as you read this, you're not alone.
This Lion King-inspired live entertainment dining experience will feature scenes from the savannah. The sun will rise and set along the back windows (panoramic screens) during the show as you enjoy your meal. Tiered risers that evoke African drums are on center stage as performers in costumes as your favorite Lion King characters sing wildly popular songs from the hit movie.

Brush up on your Lion King lyrics now because you won't be able to resist singing along with everyone at Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King! Look forward to the “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and a mash-up of “I Just Can't Wait to Be King,” and “Be Prepared.”
If this proves to be anything like Animal Kingdom Lodge's dining venues meets Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure on Disney Wish, we CANNOT WAIT!
Even Scar hopes to be invited…
Worlds of Marvel, Starring Rocket and Groot
The restaurant from Disney Wish and Disney Treasure reappears in the Disney Destiny plans. But the character focus is on Rocket and Groot, beloved characters from “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Groot takes over a superhero tribute during dinner so he can organize a surprise party for his friend, Rocket. Guests eat to the beat of an “awesome mix” of songs and test their Marvel trivia knowledge creating fun for the whole family.

Edna Á La Mode Sweets

“It's a sweet shop, darling,” is how we imagine Edna Mode welcoming guests into this incredible confectionary shop. Disney Wish has Joyful Sweets from Inside Out, and Disney Destiny will have Edna Á La Mode sweets.
The sugary venue takes inspiration from the Auntie Edna Disney short film. Jack-Jack, the super baby from Pixar's “The Incredibles,” will be in the modern sewing equipment near Edna Mode, repurposed to produce sweets. Order cookies, ice cream, gelato, candies, and other specialties.
Edna works hard while Jack-Jack plays and asks for “num nums.” We'll be alongside him asking for treats too.
Café Merida
There's no mistaking Merida, the curly-haired redhead from Brave. This hero is from the Scottish highlands, which has inspired the design of the walk-up cafe. A tapestry will hang from a mounted bow and there will be glowing blue lights above the bar, evoking the flames from the will-‘o-the-wisps. The lights lead travelers to their destiny: In this case, that destiny includes coffees, teas, cocktails, and snacks.
Café Megara
Be still, our Hercules-loving hearts! Megara, or “Meg,” the heroine from the animated 1997 movie, is the cafe's main character, spotlighted amidst a Greco Disco theme. Lightning bolts and clouds from Mount Olympus, Muse-designed vases, and a ceiling design incorporating Pegusus and waves will decorate this cafe.
Family Fun and Activities
Disney Cruise Line's announcement of character encounters throughout Disney Destiny cruise ship has us expecting some new technology that will enhance guests' interactions with Disney villains and heroes. That's yet to be announced and simply speculation, but in the meantime, the ship promises to have characters not featured on other ships, making Disney Destiny unique amongst the DCL fleet.
Shows, meet-and-greets, and special appearances from Disney foes will take place throughout your cruise. Maleficent, Hades, Hook, Mr. Smee, Cruella de Vil, Oogie Boogie, Captain Jack Sparrow, Bruno, and Loki have been announced as characters that will make appearances.
Additionally, there will be a frightful dance party in Oogie Boogie's shipboard lair and an interactive Disney trivia event that Disney villains interrupt.
Disney Destiny AquaMouse

What's a Disney Cruise Line ship these days without an AquaMouse attraction? The waterslide and entertainment combination has been a winning one on Disney's ships. On Destiny, riders are along for the journey to the peak of Villain Mountain. Minnie and Mickey will be there to guide you through the storyline.
The 760-foot-long water ride will feature an original soundtrack written for DCL by acclaimed Emmy award-winning composer Christopher Willis and lyricist Elyse Willis. The interplay of heroes and villains comes to life as Mickey and Minnie encounter evil characters, including Scar from The Lion King, the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, and Chernabog from Fantasia.
Mickey and Minnie will employ one of four silly songs, including “Sing a Silly Song,” to turn fearsome situations into wacky surprises. Special effects — including lights, music, and splashtacular surprises — will enhance the experience.
Luxurious Accommodations
No matter the Disney Cruise Line ship, overall, the staterooms on DCL ships are some of our favorites. We love the split bathrooms with toilets and showers separated, the verandahs (which we always book), and the subtle yet apparent tasteful Disney touches in the guestrooms.
Disney Destiny staterooms — deemed “Hero-Worthy Retreats” by the brand — promise to be equally awesome.
What we love about the staterooms and suites revealed in the renderings is that they are incredibly classy. They evoke Disney without being juvenile.
Iron Man-Themed Disney Destiny Tower Suite
Lucky guests who book this one-of-a-kind suite enjoy Tony Stark-approved luxury in a 2,000-square-foot space that can accommodate eight guests. The Iron Man-inspired decor evokes sleek, industrial design with soft touches. Neutral tones with pops of deep red colors elevate the Tower Suite on Disney Destiny in the forward funnel.
There are dedicated spaces for sleeping, playing, and eating, with a full kitchen and an ensuite elevator. Guests of the Tower Suite enjoy service above and beyond the concierge level, but they are welcome to enjoy the Concierge Lounge and sun deck as well.
Marvel-Inspired Concierge Lounge
Fanciful art pieces celebrating the Avengers will adorn the Concierge Lounge on Disney Destiny. Guests will step into a space whose decor reflects the sophisticated style of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in their New York City home base. Cocktails and complimentary food and beverages will be available throughout the day.
Concierge Staterooms and Suites on Disney Destiny
Concierge-level guests enjoy the concierge lounge and private sundeck.
Seven special suites with ocean views above the bridge will have floor-to-ceiling windows and a Pixar “Incredibles” theme with a midcentury modern aesthetic. They're aptly named IncrediSuites.
Four royal suites of “heroic proportions” are inspired by Greco-Roman architecture, colors, and patterns calling on Hercules' heroes. Concierge one-bedrooms are decorated with a Fantasia theme.
Staterooms
Disney Cruise Line released the rendering below, showing a verandah stateroom. The blue couch that converts to a bed in the lounge area by the balcony doors is the same as on the Disney Wish. But the stateroom themes will undoubtedly differ.
We suspect that the themes will vary based on deck level, with one theme surely being Hercules, as pictured.
Venues and Entertainment on Disney Destiny that Remain the Same Across the Triton Class Ships
Several venues and shows remain the same across the Triton class ships. As on Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny will also have the following:
Disney Destiny FAQs
What is the Disney Destiny home port?
When the ship launches in 2025, its home port will be Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Where is the ship being built?
We love this nerdy question, usually asked by avid cruisers! Meyer Werft shipbuilding company is building Disney Destiny cruise ship in Papenburg, Germany. The company has been behind the construction of countless cruise ships for big cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Silversea, Aida, P&O Cruises, and more.

When did construction start on Disney Destiny?
Construction began in March 2024. The commemorative keel-laying coin featured the ship on one side and Hero Minnie Mouse on the other, leading guests to their vacation destiny.

Check out this fun video Disney created to explain what a keel-laying coin is:
What series of ships is Disney Destiny included in for DCL?
Disney Cruise Line has several classes of ships (similar to Celebrity Cruises' “Edge Class” series of ships, which includes Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Edge, etc.): Magic, Triton, and Dream class.
